Antique Surveying Plane Table c.1925

An antique surveying plane table dating from around the 1920s, constructed with a rectangular working board supported on a folding timber tripod. Originally used by surveyors for plotting measurements directly in the field, the piece retains its practical mechanical character, including metal hinges, sliding clamps, tightening knobs and pointed iron feet designed to secure the stand on uneven ground. A suspended central plumb fitting remains beneath the top, while the warm-toned wooden legs display the surface marks and patina expected from professional use.
