Midcentury Model 204 Beech Sofa with Newly Upholstered Bouclé Seat by Ercol c.1965

A British midcentury two-seat sofa by Ercol, circa 1965, crafted in pale beech and defined by the maker’s characteristic steam-bent hoop back and closely set spindle supports. The gently curved frame creates an open, lightweight silhouette, with sculpted armrests extending from slender uprights and tapered splayed legs joined by fine stretchers below. Traditional wedged and pinned construction reflects Ercol’s characteristic approach to solid timber furniture, while the warm honey-toned beech brings out the simple, sculptural quality of the frame. A newly upholstered seat cushion in soft cream bouclé adds texture while keeping the palette restrained.
