Cotswold School Limed Oak Wardrobe for Heal's, London c.1925

A tall early 20th century oak clothes cabinet in the Cotswold School tradition, combining robust construction with restrained decorative detailing. The pale limed finish brings out the pronounced grain of the timber, while the two panelled doors are framed by substantial stiles and rails with softened, hand-worked edges. A shallow carved frieze runs beneath the cornice, complemented by vertically fluted corner posts and stepped feet. Simple rectangular timber handles and the original key reinforce the functional, craft-led character of the piece.
