Pair of Midcentury Italian Ebonised Ladder-back Chairs with Rush Seats in the style of Gio Ponti c.1965

A pair of Italian dining chairs dating from the 1960s, combining slender ebonised timber frames with handwoven rush seats. Each chair has a tall, gently tapering ladder back formed from three curved horizontal rails set between rounded uprights. The front and rear legs narrow towards the floor, while a network of side and front stretchers reinforces the lightweight construction without interrupting its open profile.
